H.B. Beal Celebrates Centennial With Four-Day Reunion
H.B. Beal Secondary School on Dundas Street is celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2012. Organizers are inviting alumni to several special events, including a springtime reunion weekend. The school, once known as H.B. Beal Technical and Commercial High School, was the first secondary school in the city to put a focus on vocational, technical and art education - rather than strictly academic subjects. Several well known artists, musicians and filmmakers graduated from Beal - and several students from SoHo attended the school.

The first event of 2012 is a Gala Celebration, on the actual 100th anniversary day, on January 12. Festivities will be held during the day for students and alumni are invited to the Gala starting at 6:30 p.m. that evening. Tickets for the event are $10 and can be purchased in advance at Tuckey's Hardware, Belle Air Music in downtown London and at Chapters Book Stores.

The actual reunion will be held from May 31 to June 3 at the school. For complete information on events, registration, tickets and sporting events, visit the website www.BEAL100.com.

The SoHo Community Association was created to help build communication and networking in the community. Our goals are to facilitate events and activities which help us come together as a neighbourhood, to share news and ideas, and to represent the vitality and strengths of our neighbourhood. The SoHo Community Association depends on volunteers to sit on the executive, represent the community at public meetings, to run events, maintain the webpage, and to maintain our Facebook page. If you are looking for a way to get more involved, please contact us at soho.london.ca@gmail.com, by calling 519-679-8624 or by ‘liking’ us on Facebook (SoHo Community Association, London Ontario).
